WHO WE ARE
Established in 2020, Men of Our H.O.O.D. has been determined to make an impact on post-secondary enrollment rates of underrepresented young men. The core of our efforts is to bring our team’s fresh ideas and passion to the range of activities we are involved in. Through all of our endeavors we hope to display the conviction behind our beliefs.

Our vision is to keep education as the sole pillar of participant’s development and growth at the early transition phase of boyhood to manhood.

Our Team
JOE INGRAM, MSW
Co-Founder & Co-Executive Director
Joe is a two-time graduate from The Ohio State University. He received his Bachelors in Education and recently graduated with his Masters of Social Work. Throughout Joe’s career he has dedicated himself to working with students, specifically student athletes. He has had a plethora of experience creating and executing curriculums with the Department of Social Change where he served as a site coordinator. He was charged with the duties of creating curriculums, gathering volunteers, training volunteers, and executing curriculum guidelines every week.
DEMONDRE PEAK, MSW
Co-Founder & Co-Executive Director
Demondre is a two-time graduate student of The Ohio State University. He recently received his Masters of Social Work, with a specialization in Social Justice and Community Engagement. Demondre currently works as a Community Engagement Manager with Korn Ferry where he manages a program providing mid-level, underrepresented professionals with leadership development opportunities. His experience in working with policy and program design gives him a unique perspective that is beneficial to the organization.
ACTIVITIES
Men of Our H.O.O.D. works to support underrepresented, young men in the development of core competencies necessary to matriculate into post-secondary education. Prior research has suggested that participation in career and college readiness programs will help students become more knowledgeable and confident in their future aspirations. Through goal setting, roundtable discussions, literacy enrichment, and experiential learning our participants will acquire the skills necessary to matriculate and succeed in any post-secondary institution.
We work on many exciting projects to help improve the lives of others, and are very proud of the progress we continue to make. Learn more about what we do, who we help, and how we work every day to promote positive change.
LITERACY ENRICHMENT
Men of Our H.O.O.D. offers literacy enrichment programs to underrepresented male students at underserved schools throughout Central Ohio. Through this initiative we strive to help teenage men navigate the real-life challenges they confront during high school and lay the groundwork for healthy, independent, and fulfilling futures. EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find new strategies for supporting students access to post-secondary education. Through this initiative, participants will experience interactive visits of different post-secondary schooling options.
Researchers at University of Wisconsin-Madison found, providing early college exposure opportunities for first-generation college students can assist students in navigating college and the institutions of higher education in
sustaining this population of students.
